Tested And Built Ford Tough®
We conducted testing on roads and highways across America, at temperature extremes from –40 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. We also used trucks driven by robots at our Michigan Proving Grounds facility, allowing us to compress years of real world conditions into a mere few months. Our objective: Enable Transit to take on the toughest challenges encountered on your everyday jobs.
It’s Not just Tough. It’s Smart.
With smart, innovative features, like our Lane-Keeping System, available Adaptive Cruise Control, FordPass™ Connect™ and more, the 2021 Transit is designed to keep you feeling confident and connected.
Pre-Collision Assist With Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
The Pre-Collision Assist feature uses camera technology to detect a potential collision with a vehicle or pedestrian directly in front of yours during day or nighttime driving. It can help reduce the severity of, and in some cases can eliminate, a frontal collision. If a potential collision is detected, an alert sound is emitted and a warning message displays in the message center. If your response is not sufficient, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do brake. If you don’t take corrective action and a collision is imminent, brakes can apply automatically.
It happens to the best of drivers. A moment of distraction — and you start drifting. But standard Lane-Keeping System can assist you with a camera that scans the lane markings ahead. The system has three modes: Lane-Keeping Alert warns you with steering wheel vibrations that simulate driving over a rumble strip. Lane-Keeping Assist applies steering torque to direct you back to the center of the lane. You can set the system to activate either the Alert or Assist mode, or both. And there’s Driver Alert that sends out warnings in the message center when it detects repeated lane drifts — a reminder to pull over and take a break.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Available on select Ford vehicles is a series of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) features employing advanced radar and camera technology. ACC lets you set a cruising speed and distance from the vehicle ahead of you. When it slows down, you automatically do too; when traffic picks back up, you resume your preset speed and distance. Then comes ACC with Stop-and-Go, which enables you to come to a complete stop when the vehicle ahead stops. Now add Lane Centering, which scans the lane markings to help you stay in your lane if the system detects you’re drifting out of it. And that’s not all. Now there’s Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which includes all of these features plus new Speed Sign Recognition that can automatically adjust the set speed of your vehicle to the posted speed limit.
This driver-assist feature can potentially lessen the severity of a secondary collision by automatically applying moderate brake pressure when an initial collision event is detected.
Auto High-Beam Headlamps
You might not think of manually turning your high beams on or off every time you need to. That’s why the driver-activated standard Auto High-Beam Headlamps is so helpful — it can do that for you, automatically. When you’re on a dark road with no traffic, the high beams come on. But when a vehicle is approaching with headlamps on or traveling ahead with taillamps visible, the system will dim to low beams to reduce glare.
BLIS® With Cross-Traffic Alert And Trailer Coverage
It’s rush hour on the interstate. You’re towing a trailer. And you need to change lanes. If this situation sounds daunting, it usually is. But available BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert and trailer coverage can help ease lane-change anxiety — even with a trailer in tow. It can alert you not only when a vehicle is spotted in your blind spots but also when one is alongside the trailer.
Front And Rear Split-View Cameras
Enjoy another of the many smart technologies engineered to enhance your confidence on the road. At slow speeds and using multiple camera views, including a camera in the rear of the vehicle and the available 180-degree camera tucked into the grille, Transit provides a split view so you can see around the entire vehicle.
FordPass™ Connect With 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot
With FordPass™ Connect,* Ford owners and passengers can enjoy an available 4G LTE in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, powered by AT&T. Up to 10 devices can connect at once, and you can use FordPass to keep track of your Wi-Fi data usage. You can access the hotspot up to 50 feet outside the vehicle. Now you can stay connected, even as you roam the highways.
*FordPass Connect (optional on select vehicles), the FordPass App; and complimentary Connected Service are required for remote features (see FordPass Terms for details).
