New 2020 Ford Super Duty – Durability
Dependability For Today — And Over The Long Haul.
You drive a heavy-duty pickup not just for its power and capability. You drive it also because it's incredibly durable and can withstand the rigorous demands of hauling large loads and pulling huge trailers. That's why the Ford Super Duty® is designed to work for you over the long haul, whether you use it on the job or for recreation.
Built Ford Tough®
Built Ford Tough® isn't just a slogan. It's an attitude that has produced America's premier line of rugged and dependable pickups for 42 straight years. Success on this high level is achieved by never letting up, never allowing the competition to catch up. One example: Super Duty is the first and only pickup truck in its class with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body and a frame made of more than 95 percent high-strength steel. Super Duty. It's Built Ford Tough.
High-Strength, Military-Grade, Aluminum-Alloy Body
The Super Duty® has the only high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body in its class. Aluminum alloy is substantially lighter than the previous steel body, yet it's remarkably strong. It's also more dent-and-ding resistant and not subject to rust. Use of aluminum alloy allowed some of the weight savings to be reinvested where it matters the most, especially in the frame, that's the foundation of strength and toughness.
Fully Boxed High-Strength Steel Frame
The fully boxed frame, built of more than 95 percent high-strength steel with up to 10 cross members, is 24 times stiffer than the previous design. The frame is designed to minimize flexing and twisting while maximizing strength and torsional rigidity and serves as the foundation for Super Duty® achieving the highest payload and tow ratings in its class.
Tested More Than 19 Million Miles
The latest generation of the Ford Super Duty® was subjected to more than 19 million miles of testing, under real and simulated conditions, at temperatures from -20 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Powertrain tests replicated going up a six-degree grade over 500 miles. Super Duty was also subjected to four-post frame twists, gravel, dust, water, brine, mud baths and even intentionally tested with worn or broken parts. Such extreme conditions often went far beyond what you would likely encounter on your toughest of jobs.
New 2020 Ford Super Duty – Smart
Super Duty® Next Level Technology.
F-Series trucks are built on a reputation of solid engineering performance. And now, Ford Super Duty® builds further on that reputation with major advances in technology, offering available driver-assist features such as Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Pro Trailer Backup Assist providing an experience of greater operating control and confidence.
Pro Trailer Backup Assist
Whether you're a novice or a seasoned pro, backing up with a trailer can be challenging. This available feature makes it as easy as turning a knob – simply rotate in the direction you want the trailer to go and Pro Trailer Backup Assist responds accordingly.
Pre-Collision Assist With Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
We should all drive defensively, but sometimes other people's lack of attention can create a hazard. This feature scans the road ahead and can alert you to potential collisions with vehicles detected in your path. If an impact becomes imminent and you don't take corrective action, the brakes can apply automatically. But don't worry – they'll only activate if they're needed.
Adaptive Cruise Control With Forward Collision Warning And Brake Support
Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support takes conventional cruise control to a new level. It lets you select the speed and distance you want to maintain from the vehicle in front of you. When traffic ahead slows down, you automatically do too, and later resume the preset speed when traffic picks back up. Getting too close to the vehicle ahead? Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support can alert you to a potential collision: A head-up display simulating red brake lights will flash on your windshield, and an audible alert will sound. If you don't react in time, the brakes will precharge and increase sensitivity, providing full responsiveness when you do brake.
BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) With Trailer Coverage
It's rush hour on the interstate. You're towing a boat. And you need to change lanes. If this situation sounds daunting, it usually is. But available BLIS with Trailer Coverage can help ease lane-change anxiety – even with a trailer in tow. It can alert you not only when a vehicle is spotted in your blind spot but also when one is alongside the trailer.
It happens. Maybe you're caught up listening to your favorite radio station or need your morning coffee, but you've wandered a little too close to the edge of your lane. Luckily, Lane-Keeping ALert can help you stay in your lane, even during a moment of distraction. This smart feature scans your vehicle's position between the lines in the road ahead and can alert you if you're starting to edge out of your lane. Having trouble staying on track? After you've drifted a few times, you'll see a coffee cup icon, letting you know it's time to take a break.
Auto High-Beam Headlamps
We've all been there. Heading into a pitch-black stretch of road and having to turn on the high beams—then forgetting to turn them off again as oncoming traffic approaches. Now, unlit roads, dark peripheries and other low-visibility situations don't have to catch you off guard. Available Auto High-Beam Headlamps can sense poor lighting conditions and switch on to light your path ahead. They even sense oncoming headlights and dim automatically so you don't have to worry about blinding other drivers, allowing you to keep your focus—and both hands—on the wheel.
Rear View Camera
Between glancing in the rearview mirror and craning your neck, backing up requires a little multitasking. So we help make it easier. The Rear View Camera may not be an extra set of eyes, but it does provide a great view of what's behind your vehicle. Just make sure to keep the camera lens free of debris (like snow or dust) and you can navigate Reverse with more confidence.
Hill Descent Control
Steep hills are often tricky to navigate, especially if you're towing a trailer. Hill Descent Control can help make the situation easier – and anxiety-free – by doing just what its name says. It helps you maintain a set speed when you're driving down an incline, by automatically applying the brake when needed.
Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System With Pro Trailer Backup Assist
Included: .Pro Trailer Backup Assist — Rotate the Pro Trailer Backup Assist knob to help maintain greater control over backing up your trailer. .Trailer Reverse Guidance — Expanded view via cameras in the sideview mirrors and visual guides in the center dash screen show the direction of the truck and the trailer, with guidelines changing with steering wheel movement.10 .180/360-degree cameras — Images are created from cameras for a view of all sides of the truck. Available in the Rear View Camera and Prep Kit. .Customer-placed camera — Available for mounting to the back of a trailer. .Center high-mount stop lamp camera — Provides a view of the pickup bed, helpful when hooking up to a 5th-wheel or gooseneck hitch.
Trailer Sway Control
When you don't feel in control, towing your trailer can feel like a risky and daunting task. Trailer Sway Control helps grant you that control by selectively applying the brakes to individual wheels and, if necessary, adjusting engine power to help stabilize your Super Duty and trailer. Thanks to Trailer Sway Control, you can tow with greater confidence, even with large loads
Trailer Reverse Guidance With Hitch Compatibility
Available Trailer Reverse Guidance enhances visibility via cameras in the sideview mirrors and visual guides in the center dash screen. You get a clear rear view of where the trailer is going, with the guidelines changing with the movements of the steering wheel. The camera view is digitally expanded to show the direction of the truck and the trailer. And now, this advanced feature covers conventional, 5th-wheel or gooseneck hitch configurations.
Rear Seat Storage And Locking Under-Seat Storage
You'll appreciate the convenience of Super Duty® interior design when you need to carry cargo and other items inside the cab. Both the SuperCab and Crew Cab models have a rear flat load floor that helps make it easy to load large cargo. The SuperCab features rear hinged doors that open 170 degrees for easy loading. And the four-door Crew Cab offers an available folding lockable under-seat box that is integrated with the floor of the vehicle for storing loose items or things you'd want to keep concealed and secure.
